Tourism minister meets Pacific Beachcomber SC executives
French Polynesia Tourism minister Steeve Hamblin met last week Pacific Beachcomber SC executives in Papeete.
Steven Draper, Senior Investment Manager at "Washington State Investment Board" (WSIB), came to Tahiti to discuss several projects.
Washington State Investment Board has shares in the Pacific Beachcomber company.
Pacific Beachcomber owns the four Intercontinental hotel in French Polynesia, the "Maitai" hotels, "The Brando" hotel under construction in Tetiaroa and the MS Paul Gauguin cruise ship, according to a government press release.
Pacific Beachomber SC executives wanted to thank the government for what is being done to make cruise ships' legislation as simple as possible in French Polynesia.
French Polynesia President and Bora Bora Mayor Gaston Tong Sang, who also took part in the meeting, said all the changes discussed will be done by the end of the year.
The Washington State Investment Board will keep on investing in French Polynesia, the press release adds.
Pacific Beachcomber SC and government officials also talked about construction of "The Brando" hotel in Tetiaroa.
The hotel will feature several deluxe bungalow villas, a spa, fitness center, community pool, as well as various island activities including scuba diving and archaeological tours.
"The Brando" will generate 150 jobs during its construction and 100 jobs will be created once the hotel is finished.
The exclusive resort will be the only hotel on Tetiaroa. Purchased by US actor Marlon Brando in 1965, Tetiaroa is a 13-island chain circled by a coral reef offering a tranquil paradise 35 miles from the island of Tahiti.
